“My name is Kimberley and I have been a support worker at SCT for over five years now. During this time I have had the pleasure of caring for some amazing clients. I feel very proud to be part of the SCT team because all the people who work here are completely dedicated to putting the people using our services at the centre of all considerations and decisions, always ensuring that their welfare, independence and happiness day to day always takes priority.
“As well as listening to our clients and taking the time to really get to know them, we let them know that we respect their decisions and that they have a genuine a voice in their care – one that we hear clearly and act upon.
“When a colleague recently asked me how I felt the Trust goes above and beyond client care, I had no hesitation answering that it’s because the attitude across the organisation is so supportive and encouraging.
“There is a universal view here that everyone has something to offer – this has led to several of our service users gaining work experience in our head office, helping out on the phones and with some of the general clerical duties. I have seen at first-hand, the immense fulfilment they gain from learning and contributing, and how they gradually grow in confidence as they learned new skills.
“In my role, I feel I can make a real difference to daily lives in many ways – whether it be taking a client to an appointment or going shopping with them – sometimes even taking them away on holiday breaks to different part of the country.
“One of the best aspects of my role is building a close rapport with the people I care, as well as with their families and friends. It’s just such a privilege to be around some of the loveliest people you could meet, and an honour to be part of their journey.”
