2024 will see our platinum anniversary. We will be marking our seventy years of service in lots of different ways throughout the year. Traditionally platinum is one of the earth’s most rare precious metals and is associated with longevity, endurance and strength. All of us at St Christopher’s Trust are proud to associated with these qualities which we aim to demonstrate every day, in everything we do for, and with, our clients.
We hope you will join us in celebrating our caring success so far, at the same time supporting us to look ahead to a future filled with enthusiasm, hope and compassion.
Some Special Milestones
1960s:
Early in the decade, a member of the British royal family, Princess Alexandra. The Honourable Lady Ogilvy, graced us with her presence to inaugurate Alex House – a loving and nurturing home designed for adults of all ages requiring a supportive environment in which to thrive and flourish at their own pace.
1980s:
Recognising the importance of vocational training to help deliver the best possible care and support people with learning disabilities, we expanded our facilities by acquiring an additional property located on Hollincross Lane. The new building was dedicated to establishing a training base to ensure our staff could learn the best possible specialist caring skills and find out about the latest approaches to long term health and well-being.
2000s:
The new millennium saw us begin to invest in buying more local property within the community. The purchase of number 20, Hollincross Lane marked the beginning of our commitment to extending our services beyond our school and residential facilities.
Today we have over [number] specially adapted buildings in which our tenants can live their most independent lives possible, supported in the way they need, and at the time they want it.
2018:
In 2018, we took a significant step by refurbishing Derby House, bringing it completely up to date in terms of specialist equipment, fixtures and fittings – but, at the same time,ensuring it remained a welcoming and comfortable environment for our residents. 2020 posed unprecedented challenges in the form of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite the numerous challenges and difficulties, our team persevered, modifying our services in light of the social distancing and cross-contamination requirements, to ensure the ongoing safety and well-being of all our residents and staff.

Present day:
In 2024, we continue to stand strong and dedicated to our overarching aim of providing exceptional community-based care and support to locals with learning disabilities, and their wider families. Thanks to the unswerving commitment of our dedicated team and the love and support of our community, we look forward to the future with optimism, passion and determination, remaining a beacon of hope and support for all those for whom we care.
