Tradition and togetherness at St Christopher’s Trust

byCraig/22 February 2024/inNews

As the festive season unfolded at the end of last year, St. Christopher’s Trust transformed into a hub of joy, laughter and spirited socialising, inspired by the spookiness of Hallowe’en in November blended with the magic of Christmas in December.

A Haunting Hallowe’en at Bradbury House

Last October we held our annual Hallowe’en festivities at Bradbury House. About 40 of our clients and residents joined in the spooky fun. The annual party featured fancy dress, a lively disco, and a feast of delicious ghoulish delights to eat.

One of our team carers who help out with the ghostly gathering each year explained why this event is one of the most popular parties of the year:

‘Halloween is when our clients’ imaginations come to life. I can’t wait to see everyone’s dressed up, it is always so much fun

Talking about how much fun the evening was, one of our clients observed:

‘I love Hallowe’en – it’s when I get to be whoever I want. I dressed up as a werewolf and I loved scaring people said are very own Danny Stocks.

Christmas – St Christopher’s Style

Less than a month later, St. Christopher’s Trust hosted a spectacular Christmas party at featuring the King himself – Elvis! Aided by the additional presence of Santa, the night was full of laughter, music and a banquet heaving with loaded with pizza, chips and mince pies.

The yuletide event saw around 40 attendees, staff and service users alike, all wearing festive Christmas jumpers, tinsel in their hair and jolly red and white Santa hats to create a cheerful, vibrant atmosphere.

A few days later, our residential care home, Derby House, hosted a memory service and tree decoration event, providing an opportunity for reflection and remembrance.

Carol singing and a visit from the local vicar added a touch of tradition to the heartfelt gathering.

Reflecting on the festive gatherings, one of our staff members shared:

‘Spending Christmas with all my family and friends from St. Christopher’s Trust is just magical. We love a party here at SCT, and we love Christmas.’

Another staff member reinforced these sentiments, saying:

‘Christmas here is always a time when the St Christopher’s family extends to include everyone. We all really look forward to the feeling of love, warmth, and togetherness.’

Creating More Memories All Year Round

Not only were our winter meetups an opportunity for seasonal celebrations, but symbolic of something more – the positive vibrant community spirit that defines St. Christopher’s Trust all through the rest of the seasons too.
